SQL errors on the forum

Postby Steve » Mon Sep 15, 2008 10:57 pm

These have been happening all day. Dan has run a repair of the tables a few times, which although seems to fix the problem, the errors keep returning. I'm looking around for a solution but for the time being just be aware you may see these errors from time to time.

Lol. Yeah I bet.

What you might see over the next few days is threads randomly being locked. I'm wondering if one thread in particular is causing the database errors and when someone posts to it if that's screwing things up. So if you see threads being locked then this is the reason and there is no need for alarm.

I'll make sure to note the time . . I found a few links:

Specific thread to do with this error
Search results for this error

Got the error at 14:18 when I tried to preview this post.

Been getting the errors on and off all day. Specific times during the last outage were 15:45, 17:23 and 17:56

I could access the topic listings in the various sub-forums, but trying to view any individual post would give the error message.

Thanks Mick. I only asked for precise times because thanks to you slackers, the logs are rather hefty.
It's only the posts table that is being affected, which is why everything else works.

You will see that most of the forums are locked at the moment. I just wanted to try limiting where people can post for a short period of time to see if the problem still comes back. I'm thinking there could be a dodgy thread or forum causing the problem. So for the moment let's just chat in Foo and see what happens. If I get time tonight I'm going to install the latest version of the forum software. Sorry for any inconveneince. Feel free to chat about anything in Foo - even skating related. We can always move it later if required.
