Account deletion

Postby Steve » Mon Sep 25, 2006 11:18 am

If you are not happy about the service you receive at SerpentineRoad and wish to discontinue from taking part in the discussions then all you need to do is not come back here. It really is that simple. There is absolutely no need to request for your account to be deleted. If you are concerned that the forum is taking up too much time and you are too weak willed not to return and post then you can deactivate your own account by changing the email address in your profile. If, on the other hand, you are requesting your account to be deleted as some kind of half arsed protest about how you have been treated here then I can assure you that we really don't care. The way to deal with this kind of issue is to PM Admin or a Moderator and explain what the problem is and we will look into it and work at sorting out the problem. Stamping your feet and sulking like a 4 year old is not going to get our attention.

But would you actually delete someone's account if they requested it anyway? Surely this comes under some kind of data protection thing?

(I'm just curious - don't delete my account lol)

If they asked nicely rather than being in a strop about something and were just trying to make a point then I would.

I feel that is a tad harsh, Mr stiv, and not a very mature and grown up thing to say, but of course, you are neither of those things. I hardly think the right and proper thing to do is to imply your members may act like 4 year olds. You have to consider what that says about you and your credibility as a friend and owner of this forum.

Fortunately for you, i still luv ya to bits, but consider other people before jumping to irrational conclusions, Mr stiv.

Firstly, Mr Stiv is a name for me that can really only be used by my local Indian takeaway so kindly discontinue using it.

Some of the people who (and mostly no longer) occupy this forum do act like they have a right to demand a good service from a site they don't pay a penny for and throw a strop when they don't get their own way. But I can assure you that when someone lodges a complaint about the way they are being treated by other forum members then we bend over backwards and go out of our way to be as unhelpful as possible and to ensure they remain pissed off for as long as possible. Refusing to delete their account winds them up even more which is why we prefer not to. It's the only sport we get around here these days.

Firstly, I'll call you what i like.
Secondly, learn to spell.
Thirdly, saying horrible things about people will get you nowhere and only make people hate you even more. However i can fully understand that people can be like that, but posting that on a forum is not the right thing to do.
Fourthly, you are bare disrespectful to people and SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING A FORUM.
Fifthly, isnt this a SKATING website, isn't that the sport you should be practising and discussing on here?

Fair enough.

Claire wrote:Secondly, learn to spell.

Ok but remember that as admin I can edit anything and therefore correct my spelling mistakes and make you look stupid for suggesting there are any.

Claire wrote:Thirdly, saying horrible things about people will get you nowhere and only make people hate you even more.

I think it's too late for that.

Claire wrote:Fourthly, you are bare disrespectful to people and SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING A FORUM.

That's true. Anyone want to buy a skating forum? Hmm. I wonder how much someone would pay for it on ebay.

See Dan B's reply.

Well you're here voluntarily, you can always leave. Some people do act like four year olds. And the original post wasn't aimed at you, so I don't get it. What's the problem?

As it happens she can't leave. I have chained her to the computer. If she fails to post every 30 mins then the computer will explode.

It's ok. Just wait a while and you will get the chance to abuse others. It's the way things work.
