Hey. Im Glenn. Im 31 yr old sustaining in Auckland, New Zealand. I am ordering a pair of Seba FR1 tomorrow. I am new to free skating after many years of fun, pain, success, and withdrawl from aggressive skating.

The weather here is absolute garbage right now (middle our winter). I just went to orientation day for a diploma course in graphic design. That will be me for the next year so....

Im living with my parents in law. I know. Its a means to an end.

Well yeah thats pretty much me, a blading addict within a community that has all but forgotton blading. Its like a wave of skateboarding clones (borg?) came in and brainwashed all the kids. No wait, that was big brother's marketing dept.

Anyway they wont get me! Roll for life!

If anyones got a pair of FR1's I'd love to hear your thoughts on them. Or just plain communicate! Thats always good!

Peace and happy rolling, L8rz.

Hey, I'm Will. Bought some inline skates for myself just before Xmas and finally started skating when I went to the rollerdisco at Vauxhall for my birthday (29). Since then I've been a to the rollerdisco a few more times and have had a few lessons in Hyde Park. Last time I went to the rollerdisco I finally dared to take my own skates. Aim to head out with the friday night skate when I feel confident enough (friday is more convenient for me than wednesday).

Hope to meet up with some of you.

Hey Will,

I'd try the Sunday Stroll first if you've never street-skated before - the Friday (and in fact the Wednesday) are pretty quick. Details of routes can be found at http://www.lfns.co.uk

Hope to see you in the park sometime!

Hey Adm. Welcome to the forum. Since this is an introduce yourself thread perhaps you can tell us a bit more about you than your location. What draws you to this place? Skating I assume, but what are you into?

Well this seems to be the best place to make my first post. I've actually signed up to these forums about 5 times since July time but never had my account activated so I've been lurking a while, props to fixing the system with the e-mail activation =)

So, my name is Stavros and I live in Slough (outer west London). I'm in my fourth year of uni studying at Reading Uni but I love skating. Picked up a set of skates last year but only properly took a couple of courses this summer with Skatefresh. I've been on a fair few LondonSkates towards the end of the season and I'm missing them now!

Does anyone skate in my neck of the woods? There are a few nice places but nothing beats the streets of the capital and chilling out on the Serpentine on the weekends.

I know a couple of members of this forum will recognise me, but for the large vast majority of you who won't; helloooo!

There were some people that dabbled in Palmer Park but that's about all I know of actually in Reading. Certainly have a few skaters that live round that way but most travel further afield to skate. Maybe try and get yourself a bladesoc like Nottingham and then find somewhere to skate "officially" in Whiteknights Park. It's got a few tracks if I remember correctly.

Oh right, I've never seen anyone skating at Palmer Park, I must always pass by at the wrong times. Unfortunately although Reading uni has a Roller Coaster Appreciation Society, we don't have a skating soc! *mass shock* Nottingham's bladesoc looks great. It's too late for me to get a society up and running as I'm in my final year and there's a bunch of paperwork and a certain amount of registered interest required before you can become an official society :(
When you say the people you know skate further afield, you mean as in London? :P

Yeah. Camberley skaters have stuff that is not far from Reading it's not all in Camberley either, that's just where it got started. They have people all over the area who dabble here and there.

Woah! Missed this one for my first post :)

Alan is the name, fresh meat in London from South Africa :P finally decided to make use of my heritage and come pester my great uncle for a while :D Currently living in Putney, work in Battersea and a stone throw away from the park, maybe a couple of stone throws.. All the same, I'm lookin at skating to get me to work and back as well as giving me a bit of exercise :)

As for said work, I'm an IT Security Analyst (fancy title for slave labour) and work for Foster and Partners. I have a broad range of interests and am rather curious by nature :) I can't cycle any more so I'm in need of a new way of getting around and blading came up when I found that boarding was too cumbersome and not manoeuvrable enough (long boards at that cause I'm a tall bugger :P).

I'm an absolute beginner and I probably shouldn't even count the one time I skated inline, but I've gone a bit of ice skating here and there which still amounts to near absolute beginner in terms of experience :P I'll be buying a pair of skates next week after pay day along with the necessary bits and bobs to keep me relatively safe from myself and whatever surface I wind up on :) fortunately I'm quite used to roasties just in case :P

I'm looking forward to getting started, hurling abuses (not the verbal kind) at myself and even more so I am looking forward to meeting bunches of you, my soon to be fellow skaters, in the times to come :)

Cheers,
Alan

P.S. I don't know if the guy I saw skating in battersea park by the fountains a couple of months back hangs out on this forum and if so I'd dig to hook up during lunch breaks if ur at all keen :D hehehehe

What did he look like?
There are quite a few people that skate in Battersea Park - I think Daveo skates there as he lives near Battersea park.

Hello, my name's Daniel. I'm new to blading and pretty new to London too (9 months). I work as a trainee lawyer, although I'd prefer to get into music, I'm a bit of a musician and artiste <- the E makes it cool. But yeah, I'm looking forward to joining some of these runs, I'll probably start with the next sunday stoll in hyde park. I used to skateboard in my teens, and I can ice-skate a bit, so I'm not completely hopeless. But yeah, if anyone's up for hanging out, let me know.

Hi, generally theres lots of people up for hanging out - the skate scene here has lots of comers & goers since its in London, so people become part of the furniture quite quickly, and the scene is almost more based about socialising than skating...

If you stick around after the skate & follow everone to the vic, you'll see where we all hangout

Hi,
I am alexandre, webmaster or rollerenligne.com (french inline-skating website). I live in France in Montpellier and i am a speed-skater. I often practiced slalom with Skali and Clochette.
I created a new website in english: www.online-skating.com , it is an english version of rollerenligne.com (please be patient, work in progress). We will translate the main articles of rollerenligne.com in english to fill www.online-skating.com

I went in london a few month ago and watched some slalom-skaters in Hyde Park. A real pleasure! I hope to come here again.
