Plz help with buying skates!

Postby Denada » Tue Feb 19, 2013 4:58 am

Hi all, I'm currently in hk and would like to get myself a pair of slalom/street skates, unfortunately after surfing the net and walking all over hk I could only for one shop that sells seba skates and on top of that they do not have the pair I want to get ( igor pro 2012) they only have the older model but it's out of stock and I spoke to them and they pretty munch hinted that thy won't be replenishing it any time soon, my problem is their menu looks about dodgy, they have model names that I have not heard of I.e seba pro? This is their website if you guys can get on it and have a quick breeze through and figure out which is a suitable pair for me that would be great, or an explanation of which is what cos I've been alt tabbing between the seba website and comparing their parts and models but got confusing what is what (I.e their website don't tell me what year is the model) my feet exact size is 24cm, which is a 38, so a trix is out of the question ( no 231 frame )

Here is their website http://www.pro-skate.com.hk/skateshop/p ... ?mc=1&sc=6

You can change the language to English at the top, thanks a lot people!

Oh and assume I have a steep budget ( tho not enough to have it shipped and wait 2 weeks)

And of course if anyone knows another place that sells seba skates in hk pleeeeease let me know I've walked a dozen districts blindly searching.

Thx in advance

D

The Seba Pro is the Seba High Carbon Pro, which is the Seba High Carbon with a deluxe frame. The Seba Red is Seba High in red and so on. The customs are explained.

There are tons of online vendors for Seba. I'd advise looking through other threads on Seba skate advise to find out more about each skate and which will work for you.

I assume you already asked on HK Roller (misterL?). Have you thought about going to Shenzhen?

Hi, weird I nvr got notification that this post got approved, was waiting for days :( thx for the clarification id50, and yeah that's me shaw, thanks for the link, my only concern is, I only speak English and Cantonese would it suffice? Gz isn't what it was 15 yrs ago 9 outta 10 people only speak mandarin :( and I'm guessing sz deals with rmb right? Gonna have to find some way to convert. Last thing shaw, could you do me a huge favor and name me a couple of the stores in that Link under sz that is located closest to the hk border? ( lo wu )I'm really really skeptical about going to ml on my own(mainly cos I don't speak mando)

I remember I was told the price for the carbon pro was 4400hkd(440euro?) is that ok for price? Tho I'm spazzed about igor pro ( due to its legendary comfort/responsive feats ) when I looked at some online stores, the shipping cost got Really hectic (170usd plus @ inlinewarehouse) oh and my other concern about going to ml for the skates is the numerous fakes I see on the web :(

Advice is kindly appreciated :)

A thought crossed my mind, and I checked taobao for the three þªÅþö░ (fok tin?) stores.

1. http://yueshilong.taobao.com/
2. http://shop34335887.taobao.com/
3. http://shop59159906.taobao.com/

Unfortunately, none of them seem to be selling any high end slalom skates. I've only been to SZ once, and barely at that, so I'm pretty clueless about the city myself. I'll see if I can contact somebody a little more knowledgeable about things tomorrow, but for now I wouldn't visit any of the fok tin stores.

If you are willed to go to Guangzhou you can try Yoyoskate. They have all you need.

Awesome was just getting dressed to go for another trip till I read this :) and yeah I'm only planning to get the igor pro and a seba backpack(small?) so if you can figure out a store in sz accessible by the metro there(within 2-3 hrs walking distance) and sells high end skates that would be totAlly cool, do you guys think they will have the 2013 model by mid April? If so I'm happy to wait, but I'll be going back to au after that :(

Man yesterday I walked 3hrs from Lo wu station to the fustian station (lok am chau

I asked the creator of that thread, and he recommended Pro Skate. Pro Skate is the primary distributor for seba skates in HK, so if they don't have them, it's doubtful that anybody else in HK does. I asked if SZ might have iGors, and he said your only hope is to buy online. The guy is a distributor for Radius skates so he doesn't know when 2013 skates will be in stock, but he did take the opportunity to say that Radius' new slalom skate is out:

Ahhh ok, I guess I'll have to go to GZ and take a peak, I thinks only 72rmb to go GZ from sz, how much do you think I should pay max for a pair of 2012igor pro in GZ ? (rmb)

Thanks in advance

Looking at the taobao stores from that 66club thread, I only found two stores in GZ and none in SZ that carried high-end slalom skates:

YOYOSKATEµƒÜÕ¡ÉÞ╝¬µ╗æµùùÞëªÕ║ù
taobao store: http://shop33269872.taobao.com/
Address: Õ╗úÕÀ×Õ©éÞÂèþºÇÕìÇÞ╝âÕá┤µØ▒ÞÀ»þ£üÚ½öÞé▓Õá┤B2µ¬ö

µ╝éþº╗Þ¢«µ╗æ
taobao store: http://shop64499099.taobao.com/
Address:Õ╣┐ÕÀ×þÖ¢õ║æÕî║þƒ│õ║òþƒ│µ¢¡ÞÑ┐ÞÀ»Õ╣┐ÕñºþÜ«ÕàÀµ£ìÞúàՃĴ╝¼´╝ô´╝ì´╝ô´╝É´╝ÿ

iGors sell for anywhere between 2800-3200 RMB, depending on the store. You could possibly get them for less if you have connections, but for the most part 2800-3200 seems to be the median price.

Note that just because they're listed on the store doesn't necessarily mean they have them in stock. If you can read/type in Chinese, it's probably a good idea to make a taobao account and chat with one of the store representatives before heading there. If you're able to do that, you can also contact distributors in SZ who are selling iGors: http://s.taobao.com/search?q=seba+igor& ... A#J_Filter

Thanks shaw!!! I'll try find some time to go to GZ, probably the second one you point out, yoyoskates wheni went to the store, at the bottom it said igor was 9200-11000??? :? Now my last question would be, what frame size do you think I should get for traveling? In the other post you pointed out that whatever igor boot size I get, it should be compatitible with any frame length I attach to it, should I get a 27x for 4x 90mm or would my small feet not be able to handle it efficiently? It'll be a deluxe frame, but what wheels should I get? Cw? And can you comment on the seba backpack? Any good? What are some necessary tools I should get In order for me to not have to go 'oh crap I forgot to get xxxxx' when I go back over seas? I.e tools to change frame/wheels, or can I do all that with regular tools? You are a lifesaver:p

And as always, have a nice day

iGors seem to have disappeared completely from yoyoskate's store, possibly indicative that they ran out of stock. 9000+ for a pair of iGors was probably for a pair of custom moulded iGors, where they take the shape of your feet and build the skates around that.

4x90 would probably be good for distance skating, but I'm not really the person to ask about that.

I tend to use cheap Chinese wheels (mostly rollerfun), but if you have money I've heard good things about Matter or Hyper wheels.

The Seba backpack is kind of pricey, but good. I especially like the external mesh, but I'm not sure if the most recent model still has that. It's good to have if you travel a lot with your skates, but a little cumbersome for just skating around the neighborhood.

In terms of tools, the skates should come with two allen keys, a 4mm one for the wheels, and a slightly larger one for the frames. Aside from that you might want to pick up a set of cones for slalom, I'm not sure exactly how available those are in Australia.

The iGors you find in SZ might be a distributor that only sells on taobao. If you have a taobao account, you can try talking with them in real time. Most stores should have somebody available during normal business hours:
