They do a small stret skate in Rome on Wednesdays ├óÔé¼ÔÇ£ only 30 people or so, but it should be interesting (most of the centre is slates or cobbles) and they stop for icecream on the way or go for a meal. Sounds great, would love to check it out some time soon.

Anyone know of any street skates in Dublin? Someone contacted the LFNS to ask if we plan to do something similar there - have to admit it's not on our TODO list right now, but maybe there are other people doing it already

It'd be fun to take a group over, though. Who knows the area?

I know the area, but I'm pretty sure there is nobody doing anything of the sort at the moment... Actually, surfaces are pretty good (occupational hazard of being a skater is that even when not on skates you can't help but think oooh, nice surface!). Would be fun to take the city by storm for a night.

Given Dublin's traffic issues, though, I would imagine the reception we would get would be at least as friendly as your average London cabbie.

Lille ROL

Postby andyman » Mon May 29, 2006 9:49 pm

I was surfin and came across Lille ROL http://www.rol.asso.fr/

My french is at best 'O' level but it looks they have a well organised set of weekly skates.

The one that caught my eye was the Raid on Belgium. 36kms, flat surfaces crossing the border! Sounded great, am thinking of checking out Eurostar prices later this summer.

Anyone interested???

All right, our local scene is -

Tuesday nights (starting evening 10pm,up to 2am usually), group called TAR - Tel-Aviv rollers. Up to 300 skaters. Have some constant routes, run up to 30 km, slow pace (15+ km/h), frequent stops. Folks from other teams (ie slalomers, downhillers etc) come and join sometmes. Its nice social skating event, they also have some rules - like must have wrist guards, earphones are forbidden (thats why I quit skating with them). Beer drinking is included in one of the supportive bars.

On Sunday, same time, group of speedskaters (more than 10) run all over the city in speedy pace, doing around 25km in hour. Also some events take place in cities around Tel-Aviv and up north.

Generally Tel-Aviv is excellent for freeskating - narrow streets, many bike routes, lot of places for jumping, not bad roads quality. A bit careless car drivers,so be carefull.

If more details needed feel free to bother me

I so wish I knew about this one before I went last September. Would have been great to skate in BJ.

Can admin make this thread sticky, and can someone (Caz?) edit the first post to include all the skates everyone else is referring to.

That would be really helpful, a reference guide with all the world's nightskates to consult before travelling.

someone was asking about skates in new york after october. Check out http://www.nycskaters.com they organize skates there all the time, and you can probably generate enthusiasm for a skate that intersects with your stay.
