Yup. Also, some proper old-school Jungle works for that, too.

HK-47 is an enemy NPC in Star wars :D (Just noticed your name...)

Also, i like some dark hardcore - Jungle is good, but sometimes i struggle to find a pace with it

Might have to send George Lucas a stern letter about that, I called dibs first!

As for pace, I get what you're saying, I think my needs are more generally motivational and I just set my own pace regardless. For a couple of laps of Goodwood this year I just have Bboy's War on repeat, lol

That's something I find quite strange, and it's what I meant about having music playing while skating as opposed to skating to the music. I have to skate to the music, it's what it's for, and if it's the wrong tempo for my pace then I'll change it for something which matches better. Although I'm more likely to change my skating pace to match the music, there are usually different speeds you can find within a rhythm.

If I'm doing dance, that really is the case, for speed skating though I find it far less important ... I think that might not be typical though ;)

I got tired of listening to 'classic rock' so I went searching through the radio stations and came upon a top 40 station. It's more like top 10, since that seems to be the extent of the playlist. So I went to Billboard and listened to a few selections. The top 50 or so break down into ballads, country rock, and what I guess is techno-rock? Anyway, some of the techno-rock is pretty good to skate to, and since I'm listening with earbuds I'm able to hear all the layering of the tracks that is in vogue at the moment.

As an aside, I had a very nasty fall a few months ago and went out to the veloway determined to work on balance by doing more crossovers and whatnot. I took off my sunglasses and turned off the music so I could be 'closer to the road' or something. Big mistake, I froze up. Sunglasses on, earbuds in, music loud, I loosened up and was able to work through some tricks. Having that psychological separation from the pavement helped me.

So far I am mostly enjoying Hip Hop, Jungle and DubStep when I skate.

I have to skip a lot of the music on my phone because, as others have said, it really doesn't work with the activity. E.g. Spiritualized, love them but won't be skating to them anytime soon.

This is currently my favourite skating track, which I often stick on repeat - Knock 'em Out The Box, Sean Price

Peace,

kowalski

I found dubstep hard to connect with, until I heard this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wqRBGFJy7g

(give it at least 60 seconds, after which it just keeps getting better)

I'm very much into hip-hop, less mainstream stuff and mostly the New York style; Wu Tang Clan, Sean Price, Slum Village, Papoose, El-P, stuff like that.

For skating the only hip-hip that does it for me so far is Sean Price. He is so raw. Try it!

I'm not big into Dubstep, there are a few tracks I like and the pace and aggression is good for skating. I prefer Jungle but all the good stuff is old, the Dubstep I like reminds me of the Jungle I like. Love this track for skating - www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KhEfmFHIKQ

Also, this video using a dubstep track was a key influence in my decision to become a skater - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngrnp9mEWqM

My current favourite is the karaoke (no words) version of "Human" by The Killers.

Generally I go for trance dance music (why don't they make that stuff anymore?).

They attempt to make it...
I still like older playlists though...

kamaya painters - endless wave - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6D5hE3ol7No
blank & jones - cream (ATB) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEta021935A
blank & jones - beyond time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TD3Gsk9KSbw
agnelli & nelson - holding onto nothing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiAOlMeVNLw
.....hudson street - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFOPrwKtP1w (this has a great breakdown/drop at around 1:20 (l) )
mauro picotto - lizard - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xx1oNpMQIm8

Although you get a couple of fairly decent remixes....

PVD - For an angel (filo & peri remix) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k95mfVhwfiM
Age of Love - the age of love (marco v) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEVMJh4zaho
tidy boys vs signum - coming on strong - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBs2_On4BYE (Also the original is worth a listen)
(more to follow)

harder... (hardstyle/hard dance)
noisecontrollers - when the beat drops - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le_ShihIA-4 (bit of a hardstyle/dub mashup)
noisecontrollers - gimme love - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHb_Izo8tTo
noisecontrollers - hocus pocus - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AgwgG8OvUA
builder - her voice - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feYAlVKvUTM
the viper - who we are - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDIVmLNjyhQ
trance generators - do you wanna balloon? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fG6jMUwDrA
tidy & pinup - cocaine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jL8EpvTBqWI

I definitely recommend tidy trax material as they incorporate ALOT of old school trance/house into their mixes....
