Correct! In fact I'm studying in it. In this town there are some longboarders, a handful of aggro skaters and a few recreational skaters. I'm trying to drum up some interest for dh, but its not easy :P

Well, here in Rhyl there seems to be a bunch of skateboarders, some aggro and a couple of rec. Havn't seen many freestyle though.
Nor have i seen any real sort of "gathering" if you know what i mean, but i could be wrong.

Shame really, i'd like to get in with a decent skating community :S

Hi
I'm up in Llandudno, however I am just a beginner. I am also inspired by the freestyle / slalom that I've seen on youtube etc.

Perhaps one can start with just two?

Sounds good to me :)

"Just" a beginner eh? Gotta start somewhere! I'm by no means an expert, but i've been skating on both ice and concrete for the best part of my life (i'm 26 now)....
Slalom is pretty new to me, though!

Unfortunately 'just' a beginner, for me, means I'm still pretty wobbly, and my repertoire of moves is very limited.
However I still think it would be good to have a decent skating community here in North Wales. Skating alone is ok, but must be more fun with other people.

26 huh? Well I got a few years on you ;)
I'm 30-something, and falling seems to be more of a deal now than it used to be!

Yeah falling can be not so fun for some...but the more you try to avoid it, the more it tends to happen
I meant to say that being just a beginner isn't a bad thing :) most of the people on here probably wouldn't be shocked/surprised when they meet fresh blood...I mean skaters
Do you wear protective gear? It can certainly help you gain confidence and save nasty bruises and grazes :O

Skating with others or even skating alone knowing you are a part of a small skating community, is pretty cool!

:D

So where do you skate?
I've found a nice smooth, and pretty quiet ('quiet' is important for me right now!) part of the Cycle Route 5, between Conwy and Penmaenmawr. Only problem is its not really wide enough for turning practice (crossovers etc). I'd guess it is about 2m wide.

I've still not seen a single skater in the past few years. Where are they all hiding? :(
