Favicon

Postby Firefly » Wed Jan 21, 2009 7:00 pm

Why is there no Favicon for Sr.com?
I know its not massively important, and I am sure you guys have a million and one better thinks to do with your time, but I'm sure it would be a great improvement to everyone's fave bar.

Fav icons (as suggested byt the name) only appear if a person add's it to ones favorites.

I believe that each tab in my browser (firefox) uses the favicon of the site of the page loaded even if the site isn't a "favourite" or bookmarked anywhere, and indeed there is no such icon for my SR tab.

Exactly
Im sure most users will have Sr s one of their favorites.
It just more aesthetically pleasing to have an easy to identify Icon on your favorites bar. (Maybe this just a firefox thing or does IE7 have it too?)
I have 50 icons on my bar 10 of which have the same 'unknown' icon. You have to roll your mouse over to id them

I never noticed the lack of favicon on SR actually. I'm a firefox user but I organise my bookmarks into folders on the bookmarks bar, and guess wah? I got a folder for Skating so never had the prob of identifying which bookmark goes where. A favicon for SR would be pretty though, would take less 5 minutes to photoshop 8)

FYI Firefly favicons are used across all browsers.

Here is a favicon for the website if you want it. :)

Just put it in the root folder as far as I know and it should work (unzip it first of course)

I put it in either in .zip or .rar whatever you prefer.

Yes, but not yet. Since the forum was moved to Vish's new server I no longer have a valid login. I'm going to have to wait for him to get back from India before I can make any changes.

Once it's in place you might find your error logs a bit more manageable (not full of "no such file /favicon...").
