Re: Yes, it's time to turn the lights out

Thanks Steve for running this site for all these years. I don't know what made me check the site today, but I haven't visited for a while mostly because I don't skate anymore, not because I've moved on to using facebook to communicate with other skaters. Sad times indeed.

Re: New Skate Brake Kickstarter

Does it catch when riding down curbs? Personally I would not use one of these as I feel having a leash or anything where I'd need to reach down and grab would compromise my skating style, also yeah it doesn't look cool ;) *edited* oops some of my original questions when I actually looked at the kick...

Re: An introduction and a question... (best urban skates?)

I guess I want to switch to freestyle for two reasons... 1 - I presumed that there would be a genre of skate which is purpose-built for urban skating There are, but I guess I still prefer my modded aggressives. 2 - The soul-plate (which are quite big on Valo's) are unnecessary ah yes, the soul plat...

Re: An introduction and a question... (best urban skates?)

Can I ask, what is wrong with your modded aggressives? I used to street skate a lot but unlike atlsk8r I never liked using my slalom skates on the street, not because of the rocker, I always skate with a rocker. The issue is that I can always feel every last bump on the awful london roads with my Se...

Re: Which Ice Skates

One thing to note about Ice Hockey is that it's a massive industry, as such, hockey skate manufacturers push out new skates with new 'innovations' every year and everyone races to get the latest hockey skates and fashions. This means that shops get lumbered with last years models, my hockey skates o...

Re: Help with sevens !

my skates feel really loose when going on the toe , i feel my heel like floating in mid air , even when it's tightened at the max Sounds like 'heel lift' it's a common problem with some skates where they don't properly grip the heel. However I've yet to find a pair of skates that eliminate it entir...

The site still works for me, just very slow but there is no info about roller discos. You're probably better off contacting Jon at Northern Roll http://www.northernroll.co.uk/rollerdance.html

Re: Roces ASP100 frame adjustment?

However, he did say my ankles weren't weak or damaged in any way - seems to be a gait & footwear issue...however I am now none the wiser as to how to proceed. Physio is a believer in orthotics and static stretching - told me to stretch, and also that the orthotics wouldn't be corrective but wou...

Re: Roces ASP100 frame adjustment?

well, I hope the FR1 with Balance liners do help, but they don't have to be the last resort if you're desperate to try inlines the most comfortable skates I've worn are aggressive skates, I have frames on mine that take 80mm wheels and there are no soul plates so they're suited to street skating. Po...

Re: Skate park lessons in London?

I find it surprising inline skating in a skate park is not more popular in london. nice surfaces, technical, bit of adrenalin - feels like a natural progression once you're happy doing street skates etc. It is for some people, which is why there is a group that goes to Bay 66 as Wild Phil mentioned...

Re: Leicester Skaters website

Teams are not called leagues, a league can consist of one or more teams and many places in the UK have 2 or 3 teams in a league (London Roller Girls has a whole bunch). I know, but non-derby people get confused over this and assume a roller derby league like the London Roller Girls is a "team&...

Re: Why skate backwards?

There use to be exposed girders in a leisure centre which I used to skate in, I used to enjoy hitting them at speed with my outside foot and using that momentum to spin around and carry on backwards. Then I was once on a street skate going downhill and my right foot dropped into a large pothole whic...

Re: Quad slalom setup?

I do like high boot plastic quads myself and I didn't think low cut boots would be ok for edge tricks but after seeing someone (I think it was Monic) doing one wheel tricks in Paris in low cut trainer quads I had to accept the fact that I must have weak ankles :) As for the other stuff, I hope you'v...

If you take the liner out then you might find that a bit of plastic foam has moved from the hole above the mounting bolt.

I can't comment on the Bones Swiss rated bearings but BSB Swiss bearings are amazing, they seem to make only one set of SWISS rated bearings as well, so easier to choose from their line ;)
