Re: Yes, it's time to turn the lights out

Shameless promotion time..... There's still one skating forum left for you to get your fix and it's so retro it on still on an earlier version of phpbb. It's also quite active because LSST hasn't really embraced Facebook. You could even join the club to get access to the other forums, get free coach...

Re: Question thats been bugging me for ages

I think LondonSkate used to be 7:30 too for a 7:45 start but we ended up leaving later and later and then just called it 8 but tried to keep it prompt. It's usually the Marshals turning up last minute (including the lead marshals on Friday) to the point that the defacto start willl be about 15 minut...

Re: Question thats been bugging me for ages

I was just wondering if there is some London Skating folklore to why no common start. Not folklore though there may have been some more to it that this. You may have noticed that all skates that start on Serp Road do not skate along Serpentine Road westwards and always exit along or across South Ca...

Booked. Staying in a hotel this year as I am riding down and back and will want to sleep well and not have to carry a tent on the bike.

Rhine on Skates 31/8/13

Saw some people enthusing about it on Facebook a few months ago, but is anyone actually going this year. I am about to register and wondered if I might have some company, especially for drinkies afterwards.

Early bird discount is available until this weekend.

Re: New Skate Brake Kickstarter

I would have thought downhill was the most practical use too. Speedskating, not really a serious tool. Brakes are illegal in full speedskating and speedskating is not about stopping, it is about going and I have met a few world class speed skaters who cannot stop effectively because they have never ...

Re: Roller Marathon at the BLITZ Festival, 26th August 2013

Measurement line is the shortest line of the course so it can cross the track in straight lines and go round corners but must be 50cm from the edge of the track in bends that aren't straight lines to opposite handed bends. This only really matters if you are looking for official British records thou...

Re: Coming back from really bad injuries

Unless you have a doctor that skates, you're probably not going to get a good answe there. Unless there is a doctor in here, you might not get a good answer either. Skating good for knees? I'd tend to disagree. Not as bad a running, certainly but skate pushing is not a normal body movement and it do...

Re: Which Ice Skates

I'd still recommend trying them on though. Ice Hockey skates are usually a size or two smaller than regular shoe sizes depending on the manufacturer. Width can be a significant consideration too.

Re: 31/5/13 world record skate chain at the kemp town carniv

I think the most important thing would be to get the start time shifted post 7pm or later if possible to give people a chance to get down there.. Sat would be even better... As it stands anyone who works Fridays would have a hard time getting down on time. Website says 1st June for the Carnival now...

Re: Skatemania:Preston roller marathon Sun 12th May 2013

1 mile pretty fast circuit with a small bridge to climb over. The wind swirls a bit if there is any and can give a great boost round some of the bends. Learn where it helps and use it to attack on the last lap for your break away then when everyone else is trying to catch you up wind up your sprint ...

Can't have them in the body of the skate for safety reasons but they would be welcome behind the rear marshal where the bikes are.

There is a shortage of LMs in general and right now, 5 are here in the alps along with about 10 other marshals. Not sure about who's left. May have been praying for rain.

Re: Doop Skates - What's the point?

Ice blade attachment has been available for about 10 years. Neil had some and used them at Queens. They were quite poor as ice skates. Pretty typical for the jack of all trades, master or none specialist.

Re: Doop Skates - What's the point?

Had 2 pairs of hypnos. Good concept but the boot was not comfy as a boot for long and as a heavy skater the mounts were a bit floppy. These may fix that problem. I'd like to try some.
