Re: Yes, it's time to turn the lights out

The debate about red locker continues It does? The debate on redlocker died a year ago or more when the decision was made to move all the casual traffic to fb and reserve the forum for stuff that approximately nobody was really interested in. Result: no point in checking it more than about once a w...

<ancient injoke>It's not as good as the brake brush though is it?</ancient> Seriously, it reminds me a little of the gatorleash, but it's significantly less uncool. I'd like it for something like L2B, perhaps, but I doubt I'd get that much use from it otherwise. Good luck with it though

The faster you can skate, the sooner you finish and so the less time you have to spend doubled over. Simple

Can't log in from wired network in the office, but it turns out that I can from the insecure wireless network. I'm going to blame messagelabs for this one, it's their "transparent" proxy

Re: What knot? new skates!!! :D

Btw just me or does skating use up very little energy? I can hardly ride an hour straight on my bike Probably just you: it's less mechanically efficient, more sensitive to road surfaces, plus you can't sit down. Most of the skaters I know who also ride bikes are significantly faster on a bike, and ...

Perhaps that's because nobody around "here", wherever that is, knows how to speed skate. Could well be a regional thing

Don't do that. It makes you look as though you don't know what you're doing.

Re: What knot? new skates!!! :D

Is there any method or routine you guys can recommend for me to practice while skating that will train my balance? More practice :-) I found it got a lot easier when I consciously shifted my weight backwards to be more over the heel wheel and less on the front wheels. I suspect this is because it's...

Re: What knot? new skates!!! :D

What speed you should skate at depends on your skill level and experience. With practice, a t-brake should be able to stop from high speeds within a reasonable distance (note, this is bad for your wheels) FSVO "reasonable". It's about as effective as trying to stop a bicycle using the rea...

Re: What knot? new skates!!! :D

any advise on braking? When I try do a t stop I can't seem to make my back leg do a 90 degree t which in turn makes me rotate into a 180-360 turn It shouldn't. If you're rotating in T stops it's because your one-legged skating needs work, not because you're not perpendicular on the back foot. In pr...

Re: Extremely tight Axles

I've had alu-alu bonding on speed skates for years and years and never worried about it - but it has to be said that the recessed head on speed axles is usually quite deep, so you can stick the allen key in a long way and have no risk of rounding anything off.

Is there any way we can power a small MP3 player off the transmitter batteries? A lot of people complained about the music and it would be handy to have a cheap MP3 player on board with a few favourite mixes ready to play? I think the transmitter system is 12V, and most cheap mp3 players are 5v or ...
